Shark, Nationals in a Funk

Well the Nats have dropped 2 so far against the Brew Crew.  They are in a funk, and not as in "Funky Cold Bernadina."  Funk as in "We are sucking right now."  Last night, Roger Bernadina was 0-5, but managed to steal second base, reach third on a throwing error, and scored a run when somehow Desmond got a hit.  The Nats couldn't quite pull it out and lost 7-6.  The night before, Corey Hart(less) hit 3 HOME RUNS and led the Brewers to an 11-3 victory.  Shark was 2-5 with an RBI, so at least he came to play.

Mako Morse has homered in both games and it is looking more encouraging having him at first base.  He may be there for awhile since Adam "The Stag" LaRoche finally got that shoulder checked out.  It's been bothering him all year and he hasn't been hitting because of it.  Turns out it is a huge tear and his rotator cuff is messed up.  Just one more blow for a Nats team that is looking lost.

With Morse at first and ricK anKiel striKing out 4 TIMES in his debut off the DL in double A ball, things are looking good for a Nix/Shark outfield for awhile.  Nix has been one of their best hitters so far, so this can only bode well for the Nats.

I grew up in Wisconsin and spent my childhood summers at old County Stadium watching Bernie Brewer slide down a slide into a giant mug of beer.  Miller Park just doesn't have the same character as that old park.  Hopefully Bernie Brewer is done sliding into beer and Bernie Shark is ready to sldie into home more and the Nats can leave the great state of Wisconsin with their head held high.

Only a couple more weeks to the Bernadina Birthday Bash/Shark Celebration (also welcoming Terry back to Nats Park) on June 14th!  Will you be there?

More to come.
