The
Nationals won again today, beating the
Phillies 2-1 to take the series 2 games to 1. It is the first series win for the
Nationals since they
beat the Pirates in a one game series (
the second game was rained/danced out...). The
Sharkplug led off the game with a single, was bunted over, then came around to score on a single by
The Great Werth. As per usual,
Bernadina set the tone for the game, and helped lead the
Nats to victory.
SHARKPLUG! He added a bunt single later in the game as well to finish 2 for 4. Inspired by the production of the
Shark,
John Lannen pitched great, allowing just
one unearned run, to beat the
Phillies for the first time in his career.
Laynce Nix had a sweet game as well, homering for the 9th time this season and doing a spot-on Shark impression, with an incredible diving catch. Clearly, he is learning a lot, playing in the field with
Bernadina. I think we need to come up with a
Shark-themed nickname for him, since part of the
Shark Tank,
Mako Morse, has shifted to first base.
Speaking of
Mako Morse, he had a hit today to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. The Shark is now at 5 games.
The Shark Streaks are on!
To say the least, Phillies starting pitcher
Roy Oswalt was skewered by the Shark today.
